About me

freelance journalistHi there.  I'm Eve Ahmed, a freelance journalist formerly writing as Zenab  Eve Short.

I specialise in features about mixed race and lifestyle issues.

As well as being a writer, I have many years' experience as a broadcaster, principally with BBC World Service, Radio 4, 5 Live and Local Radio.

My childhood was spent between Karachi and London.  I am mixed race with an English mother and a Pakistani father. Last year I moved from South London to Oxford, where I 'm now working full-time as a journalist.

Within the past two years, my articles have appeared in The Times, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Independent, Evening Standard, New Statesman, Mail on Sunday You magazine, Sunday Times Style magazine, Saga magazine, 0-19 magazine, allaboutyou.com, the Guardian's comment is free and badmothersclub.com.

Please take a look at some of the features I have written by clicking on the links on these pages and take a look at some clips from my  authored piece for for BBC1's Sunday Life show on the TV Work page.
